The Only One Under the Sun began ten years ago as a tiny gift shop at the back of Carstairs Video in the Sears Catalogue Outlet. It was so much fun that I decided it was the only business I wanted to be in. In August 2000 we bought the building at 1116 Osler Street and in September 2000 The Only One Under the Sun gift shop re-opened in a much larger way. Over the years we have continued to bring in a variety of fun, functional and fabulous products for gift-giving and home decor. We have many small gift ideas for girlfriends and hostesses or "thank you" gifts like soap slices, paper napkins (we carry over 50 patterns!), humerous and naughty fridge magnets, sun-catchers and more.
Come in for a visit, there's something new at every turn. In 2008 we built on to our store and now we have a better (and larger!) selection of ladies fashions and accessories. We are proud to carry many "made in Canada" items too. We have spring jackets and sweaters, umbrellas, "Pure" hand-knit sweaters, handbags, jewelry, skirts, tops, capris, t-shirts, pants and blouses, sunhats and colorful sandals. We also have baby gifts! Robeez© baby shoes, Goo Goo © Baby blankets and pocket bibs, pewter banks, Perelimpinpin© Nap Bags and bamboo cotton sleepers, onsies and bath towels. We have Flipper toothbrush holders, Lego cutlery sets, Q-Man© magnets in lots of colours and small metal water bottles.
If you need a chuckle, spend some time at the card rack. We have a good selection of cheeky cards for all occasions. In addition humorous and hearwarming signs made of tin or wood are one of our specialties. A great new selection has arrived from the U.S.!
